A HOBBY THAT
TOOK OVER
"We'd planted a lot of trees here and we liked wine, and then thought - why don't we put a vineyard in?" - Frank Zantvoort. And it's been growing ever since.
From dairy paddock to eighty acres under vine
In 1989 Frank and Wendy Zantvoort planted twenty acres of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Marsanne and Cabernet on unused dairy land along Stumpy Gully Road. The first vintages were all hands on deck - family and friends called in for everything from picking to bottling.
Today the vineyard has grown to eighty acres, four labels, and a second generation: Michael and Liz Zantvoort, with their three daughters growing up among the vines the way Michael did.
